EADS was formed in 2000 through the merger of Aérospatiale-Matra (France), DaimlerChrysler Aerospace (Germany), and Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA (Spain). It became one of Europe's largest defense and aerospace contractors, operating across military aircraft, helicopters, space systems, and defense electronics. In 2014, EADS was renamed Airbus Group, with its defense operations consolidated under Airbus Defence and Space.
