Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) is one of Russia's largest defense contractors and a primary producer of main battle tanks, including the T-72, T-90, and T-90M variants. The company also manufactures armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, and other military hardware, along with civilian rail and industrial products.
As a state-owned enterprise under Russian government control, UVZ is a critical component of Russia's defense industrial base and has supplied equipment to Russian armed forces and various international clients.
Founded in 1936 in Nizhny Tagil, Uralvagonzavod evolved from a locomotive and rail car manufacturer into a major defense contractor during World War II. It became the Soviet Union's primary tank production facility and has remained Russia's leading armored vehicle manufacturer since the Soviet collapse.
